Simpsons writer Al Jean happy that it took so long for them to make the movie

Fans of the Simpsons may have been waiting anxiously for a movie version of their favorite series for a long, looooong time, but according to writer Al Jean, the wait was actually a good thing. Or, as he told Empire Magazine: "We couldn't do it before 2001, as we didn't have the voice cast signed. If we had done it ten years ago we wouldn't have had the ability to do the animation that we have now. We couldn't have made this film five years ago."
