If it's up to director Bryan Singer, Terence Stamp will reprise his role of General Zod for the upcoming Superman movie Man of Steel. Or at least, that is what one scooper over at Aint It Cool News has reported from the set of Singer's current movie, Valkyrie. Reportedly, Singer would love for Stamp to reprise his role from the classic movie and has been trying to convince him for some time now. No word yet on whether this is going to happen, or whether or not it's even true, but it would be pretty cool to see Stamp return. On the other hand, it's a new movie in a restart of the franchise, so maybe a new actor would be a better choice after all?

Spider-man 3 is the movie that was on top of a lot of people's most wanted lists from the moment it was announced, but now that it's out in theaters, we need a new movie at the top of our most wanted list. And since there are many superhero movies coming up, with some looking better than others, I'd like to know which one of these you would most like to see. Is it Iron Man? The Incredible Hulk? Underdog? Well, maybe not that last one, but there are plenty of others coming up that look interesting enough. New Superman movie in 2009?
Even though Superman Returns did not perform as well as people had expected, this does still not mean, luckily, that the franchise is dead again. Bryan Singer himself seems quite confident that there will be a new Superman movie with him at the helm, as he told Empire magazine. "We haven't concluded a deal," but if a sequel gets a green light from Warner Bros, "the intention is to do it for [release in] 2009. Now that the character is established, I'd like to take the opportunity to bring in a more threatening element, a more terrible, foreboding element." I sure hope Singer gets his chance, because in my opinion Superman Returns is one of the best superhero movies ever, and also definitely one of the best movies of the year.
Future of Superman-movies in doubt?
According to a group of Talent Agency insiders (whatever those are), Superman Returns needs to make $ 200 million in America or there will be no sequel. This was said by Warner Bros. president Alan Horn, who is clearly a little worried that his 250 million dollar movie is not going through the roof as much as was expected. According the same sources, a second Superman movie will also have to cost significantly less than the rumoured $ 250 million dollars that Superman Returns cost to make. Apparently the budget will be more in the vicinity of $ 150 million, which is quite a significant cut. At the moment, the gross in America stands at close to $ 150 million, with a few potentially strong weekends ahead. I'm hoping Warner Bros will stop complaining and just greenlight the sequel, since Superman Returns is (at least in my opinion) a really great movie.
Singer interested in Batman versus Superman
Some time ago, before Batman Begins and Superman Returns were even in pre-production, Wolfgang Petersen was planning on making a Batman vs. Superman movie. The idea got dropped fairly quickly, but it might not be completely gone yet. Apparently, Bryan Singer is interested in bringing the movie back to life. “I've thought about it for a long time — even a longer time ago, actually,” he told MTV. “But I don't know who would be the villain. I guess Batman would be the villain, but then he can't be too bad, because he is Batman.” Don't expect a release for this movie too soon though. Singer: I think Superman needs to have his own movies for a little while before that happens.”
Great Movie Stills Part III: Superman Returns
Everybody keeps talking about the Superman movie, and how supposedly it's not a big success. Well, I guess if you expect a movie to get a 'gigantic' box office gross, and it then goes on to just get a 'really big' box office gross, you might be a little bit dissapointed. I still think it's a great movie, and a lot of great stills were released to support the picture. Many of these images feature shots of action, but one of the most effective stills released for Superman Returns is this one, where we see Clark Kent standing in an elevator, trying to be as inconspicuous as possible while everybody is reading about his exploits. If you look at the image on the cover of the newspaper, you will even see that it looks the Superman pictured has glasses on, making him look even more like Clark Kent than he already did. Or at least, would do, if anybody was able to see the resemblance...
Review: Superman Returns (2006)
It only took until the opening credits started to realize that this was going to be a great movie. From the moment you see the names of all involved zoom over the screen in the style of the old Superman movies, Superman Returns is a great ride, almost unparallelled in the superhero genre in the way it rouses not just your adrenaline glands, but also the hidden romantic inside of you. Superman Returns isn't just a spectacular action movie (and a very funny comedy on the side), but also a movie that will tug at your heartstrings. And it's not just the love between Superman and Lois Lane that gets play here, it's also the love between Superman and the people of the world, who at first think they don't need Supes anymore, but who soon realize how much they have missed the Man of Steel.

YouTube is a treasure trove of cool videos, and sometimes you can unearth things there that make you say: "Why didn't I think of that?" Cue these Superman Returns trailers, re-enacted in glorious, er... Legovision. It's done in a pretty funny way and even though it's nothing earth shattering, it's sure to make you crack a smile on your face.
