So, is Patrick Wilson Nite Owl in Watchmen or not?

For his upcoming Watchmen adaptation, Zach Snyder has let it be known that he would like Patrick Wilson to play the role of Nite Owl. But when Coming Soon recently interviewed Wilson, he was trying his best to deny anything was going on. Not very successfully, by the way... When asked about the part, he had this to say: "I would blab my mouth cause I certainly haven't been told to keep quiet. It's just out of respect for them trying to get everybody else on board before I go ahead and blab my mouth, but it's pretty cool. It's exciting stuff."

Silver Surfer ready for destruction

And so, after seven weeks of threequels on top of the American box office, this weekend they will be replaced by a sequel. Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer is ready to take on the previous weeks' box office champions, and it looks like it will be an easy victory. Box office analysts are predicting a high gross for the second Fantastic Four movie, though it probably won't break the amount of money the original movie made. Whilst that movie opened in 2005 with $ 56.1 million, analysts think the new movie will probably have it's peek at about $ 53 million. This is due to several factors, one being the fact that movie goers are a bit tired of follow up movies, and the other factor is the bad critical reception the first movie got. On the upside, Fantastic Four 2 is being regarded as being a better movie, and one critic complimented it on being a big, dumb and fun blockbuster, instead of the dark superhero movies we have seen in recent times, like Spider-Man 3 and Batman Begins. It's a good choice for people looking for some summer fun then.

Take a look at the new Batsuit

For his second movie, Bruce Wayne will upgrade his batsuit, turning it into an outfit that is a bit sleeker and more powerful. Hopefully for Bale it's also a bit lighter than the earlier suit, since the actor was already complaining that he worries about wearing the suit in the expected Chicago heat. Keanu Reeves says no to Watchmen

John Cusack wants to be in the upcoming Watchmen adaptation, but Keanu Reeves doesn't. Even though his name was mentioned for the role of Dr. Manhattan, Reeves has rejected the part. It might be that Reeves isn;t interested in another comic book movie after Constantine, but this is not just another comic he is turning down. Watchmen is considered to be one of the best graphic novels ever made, and the movie adaptation is highly anticipated. Alas, without Reeves then.

Is this The Joker's car?

It must be the week of the Dark Knight pictures, since after yesterday's Bruce Wayne appartment and today's new Batsuit, here is the first image of the car of The Joker. At least, that is what sources told the guys at Latino Review. So don't be surprised if this pic turns out to be a fake, though Latino Review is pretty sure this is the genuine article.

Attention Zack Snyder: John Cusack wants to be in your Watchmen movie

When MTV interviewed John Cusack recently, they asked him if he would be interested in starring in the upcoming adaptation of Alan Moore's Watchmen. Cusack told them that he loves the comic, and was surprised to hear that on the internet his name is being named by fans as being one of the actors who should be in the movie. “So, the people on the internet want me to do it? I haven’t read the script nor have I ever met Mr. Snyder. We have to talk to talk to Zack’s representatives... [But] I’m in. Talk to Zack".

To ramp up the promotion for their upcoming 'superhero' movie Underdog, Disney has released a blooper reel for the movie. It's pretty fun to watch, giving you a few glimpses of what to expect from the picture when it comes out later this August.

The Avengers coming to the big screen

What better time to introduce your new superhero movie on the day your other big superhero movie is coming out? And so, on the day Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer is released, Marvel Studios has announced that they have started bringing The Avengers to the big screen. Hollywood Reporter reports that Zak Penn (writer on the upcoming The Incredible Hulk) is being brought in to write the screenplay.
In case you have never heard of The Avengers, it's a super team comprised of practically every important superhero in the Marvel Universe, including Spider-man, Wolverine, Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, The Hulk and many others. As you can see, there is a ton of potential there, as this could be a movie that will bring in the fans of all those different heroes. I wonder how Marvel is going to handle this. Will they really bring in the big guns, and even try to persuade their respective actors (like Edward Norton, Hugh Jackman, Tobey Maguire and Robert Downey Jr.) to star in this one? Somehow, it seems doubtful. The budget for such a movie would be immense just because of the cast, and you will probably never convince all of the main actors to reprise their role in a movie like this. Production on this movie will wait until Marvel's other big superhero movies have hit theaters, and since this includes Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk (both coming out next year), Thor and Ant Man (both still in pre-production, for a probable 2010 release), fans of the Avengers will have their patience tested severely.
Ironically, DC Comics and Warner Bros. are at this moment developing a movie based on their own super team, The Justice League, with the first draft by writers Kieran Mulroney and Michelle Mulroney having just been finished. So this movie is also still some time off, though I can understand that Warner Bros. would like to come out with their superhero movie to end all superhero movies before Marvel does. Honestly, that's good news for me, since comics like Batman, Superman and The JLA have always been my favorites. Now we will just have to wait and see what Marvel and Warner Bros. will do with these movies, and how huge they are going to make them. It's a great time to be a fan of superhero movies!

J. Michael Straczynski to write Silver Surfer movie

If you would like the Silver Surfer to get his own movie, then you better take out your wallet, head over to the cinema and watch the new Fantastic Four movie when it comes out this weekend. Because if it's a big enough hit, Fox will follow it up with a movie based on the new main character from the movie, the Silver Surfer. J. Michael Straczynski has been hired to write the script, which is a good decision since the Babylon 5 creator has made a name for himself as a great writer of comic books, including a recent Silver Surfer series. Fox is planning for the movie to be darker than the Fantastic Four pics, which wouldn't be too hard to do as the second FF movie was rated PG, meaning the heroes and villains will just arm wrestle each other, with the winner getting world domination.

"The second Hulk movie will actually be good", says Marvel executive

According to Kevin Feige, one of the higher up's at Marvel Comics' movie division, the biggest difference between Ang Lee's Hulk movie and the new will be that "this one will be good." Feige told Coming Soon that "there are certain elements of the first film that I'm proud of, there are other elements that I'm not. In looking to reboot and start the franchise fresh and new, we wanted to start with a clean slate."
