Katie Holmes not returning for Batman 2

(Strong) rumor has it that Katie Holmes will pull out of the next Batman-movie. Apparently, the role of her character is so small in the movie (about ten minutes), that she decided to just not bother. Which means that the role is up for grabs, which in turn means that no doubt we will be hearing a lot of casting rumours in days to come.

Next Superman to be more action packed

According to screenwriter Michael Dougherty, the next Superman-movie will be a lot more action packed than Superman Returns. Many fans expressed their disappointment at how Bryan Singer's Super-debut turned out, but this seems to be made up for with more villains, and more big scenes. Dougherty told Sci-Fi Wire that they will "take what we've already established -- we've gotten that out of the way -- and let's just make it shorter, tighter and more action-packed." Sounds good, though I have to admit to immensely enjoying Returns myself.

Rachel Weisz to replace Angelina Jolie in Sin City 2?

Rumor has it that Angelina Jolie is dropping out of Sin City 2, to be replaced by Rachel Weisz. According to CinemaBlend, talks between Jolie and the producers of the movie fizzled, and now Rodriguez is talking to Weisz. While many Jolie-fanboys may be up in arms, I think it's a very interesting choice that can only help the movie (no offense to Jolie, of course).

Sometime last year, George Lucas predicted that movie budgets would no longer be going up, since the studios would finally realise that it's possible to make a bigger profit with movies with lower budgets, as long as the subject was interesting enough. Fans of the big blockbuster movies that are the main staple of any movie year started worrying. We all love our small, independent movies, but if you are in your local multiplex with a big bucket of popcorn on your lap, you want to see a huge movie with an insane budget. But judging from the list of this year's most expensive blockbusters, they don't have to start worrying just yet.

Gwynneth Paltrow joins Iron Man

Gwynneth Paltrow has joined the cast of Iron Man, joining director Jon Favreau and stars Robert Downey Jr. and Terence Howard. Paltrow, who has some experience with the genre thanks to her role in the underrated Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow, will play Virginia "Pepper" Potts, the assistant of Tony Starks, the wealthy industrialist who later on becomes Iron Man. Paltrow joining the cast makes me feel even more confident about this movie, a lot more so than some of the other upcoming Marvel movies (I still cannot get excited about Ghost Rider, sorry). It looks like Favreau is slowly building huge cred for his movie, and I cannot wait to see the first images from the flick. Source

Second TMNT trailer online in high quality

From the first teaser trailer for TMNT, it was hard to get a good idea of what the movie was really going to look like. This second trailer, however, shows so much more, and makes it apparent that the studios involved are pulling out all the stops to make sure TMNT is going to be a great looking movie. The story, about an industrialist who is amassing an army of ancient monsters to take over the world, is quite interesting too, and seems to fit perfectly with our four heroes, who will have their hands full trying to stop this nightmare from coming true. This movie looks like a lot of fun, but we'll have to wait until the end of March for it to be released.

New 300 trailer online

I'm not actually sure if this trailer is completely new, since I saw so many of the images in this trailer already in other trailers and previews, but it's all so cool that it deserves a mention anyway. Besides which, it's now on Quicktime.com, which means it's now available in the highest possible quality. On the 9th of March 300 will be released in America, with the rest of the world to follow soon, and it's bound to be one of the most talked about movies of the year. Heck, the movie is still almost two months off and people can already not stop discussing it. Well, that's because it looks like it could be something really special, the visual style that director Zack Snyder has come up with for his adaptation being both stunning and unique. Click!

Who's going to play Harvey 'Two Face' Dent in The Dark Knight?

Okay, so we know who will play The Joker, but there are still some high profile roles to be filled for Christopher Nolan's second Batman-flick. Harvey 'Two Face' Dent, for instance, a district attorney on the side of good, who gets horribly disfigured and turns into a murderous super villain. Several high profile actors are considered for the part, as apparently Warner Bros. is eager for some more big names for the movie, amongst them Jamie Foxx and Edward Norton. I think both Foxx and Norton would be great for the part, though I would give Norton a bit of an edge since I think he would be better at playing an unhinged individual, based on his roles in earlier movies. A third actor considered for the part is lesser known Eion Bailey (Mindhunters, Band of Brothers), who was also among the actors originally considered for the part of Batman.
