Ridiculous Evil Masterplans: In Like Flint (1967)

Now before I continue this item, let me say beforehand that I don't doubt that there are female evil geniuses out there who could very well come up with a plot smart enough to take over the world one day. And maybe it wouldn't be such a bad idea if women did take over the reigns, if only to see how the world would look then. So no, the fact that the evil masterminds in today's Ridiculous Evil Schemes are female has nothing to do with the fact that I'm a bit dubious about their plans. The thing is, these particular women have come up with a plan that, well, let's just say I don't give it too much of a chance at succeeding. Especially not when you have somebody like Derek Flint to square off against, a super spy who does not care whether or not there are male or female evil masterminds to deal with (although the way he deals with them are probably a bit different).

Ridiculous evil masterplans: Go for it! (1983)

Part of the fun of most spy movies is the fact that there is an evil mastermind lurking somewhere, with an evil masterplan to take over the world. Of course, these plots never work out, because there is always a brave hero to stop this from happening. In some movies, however, you wonder why the heroes even bother, since the masterplan sounds so incredibly stupid to begin with.
Take for the instance the masterplan of evil mastermind K-1 in Bud Spencer/Terrence Hill movie Go For It (also known as Trinity: Hits the Road. Now I will be the first to admit that the movies starring these two Italian stars are never really known for their intricate plots, mostly for the slapstick action and bigger than life situations (and nothing wrong with that, I loved these movies as a kid and still enjoy their silliness), but K-1's plan is totally ridiculous, and thus a great one to start off this new section of the site with. You see, his plan is to shoot down a space shuttle with his rocket, which will then release a gas that will remove all the numbers from our planet. Yeah, you read that correctly. All the numbers gone. Finito. Surely, you can understand the chaos this will cause, since nobody will be able to call anybody on the phone anymore, sports games are meaningless, and all the money in the bank loses it's worth. Our evil friend wants to take advantage of the confusion and then take over control of the world. Surely he's not doing it for financial gain, since money has lost it's worth, but that's what those evil masterminds do for a living: come up with evil schemes that nobody else could have ever come up with. Luckily for us, our heroes save the day. Phew! How could I rate the movies I review without numbers? I shudder at the thought! (thanks to Eric for telling me about this movie)
