This was the first image I saw of this Jim Carrey/Matthew Broderick movie, and I immediately knew that I wanted to see it. Not many people agreed with that, making this the movie that broke Carrey's winning streak of that time. A shame, since The Cable Guy is one of the funniest things that he has ever done, brilliant in it's darkness and with a Carrey that is creepier than many bad guys in horror movies.
Some movies just aren't remembered enough and deserve much more attention than they are getting. James and the Giant Peach is one of those movies, a beautiful piece of claymation that didn't grab the spotlights as well as it's predecessor, Nightmare before Christmas, did. Still, it more than deserves your attention, so if you have never seen it, or if you have kids who have never been partial to this movie's delights, try to find it somewhere in a DVD-shop, you won't regret it!
There are certain movies, where if you think about those movies, there are always certain movie stills that come to mind. This is one of those stills, very memorable not just for the beautiful blondes sitting around our hero, but also for the first ever glimpse it gave us of the hero himself. It gives a good impression of the good natured vibe of this movie. Hmm, whatever happened to that fourth Austin Powers movie anyway?
I've always been a big fan of the Laurel and Hardy movies, and back in the days I even went to conventions dedicated to the funniest duo in movie history. These conventions were always held in classic Amsterdam cinema The Movies, and were a lot of fun. A big part of those conventions was, of course, showings of the films, and whenever Way out West was on, I was there. Out of all the Laurel and Hardy movies I have seen, I think this one is my favorite.
When I decided that I would not just use new movies anymore for this section of the site, I found out that it was difficult to find good shots from certain older movies that I had planned to feature. Not so for Barbarella, for which there are literally dozens of movie stills doing the rounds. Well, the movie is more or less a classic after all, and feature one of the sexiest characters ever seen in a big movie, so I guess that does explain it a little bit!
In The Ex, Zach Braff plays a man who one day finds out that the colleague he doesn't like very much (Jason Bateman) is actually an ex-boyfriend of his wife (Amanda Peet). The two clearly have a history together, and Braff's character starts to become more and more paranoid, which may not be completely unjustified. The trailer has some funny moments, and with a cast like this, The Ex could turn out to be a good movie to spend a fun two hours in the cinema with. This still reflects Braff's feelings for Bateman very well.
For his new movie, Don Cheadle steps into the shoes of Washington DC radio personality Ralph "Petey Green", a man who became a popular talk show host after being released from prison. He used his popularity in his work as a community activist. I think Don Cheadle is a great actor and have heard about this movie, which is said to be very funny, but with a grounded story as the backbone. Besides, this picture is just a fun picture to look at. The two people in the movie seem to be having a lot of fun, so chances are you we will also have fun when we are watching the movie!
Mr. Woodcock looks like it could be an interesting little movie. It stars Sean William Scott as a mild mannered man who returns to his old hometown after he gets the announcement that his mother will marry his old high school gym teacher. Since this man has made life hell for our hero, as well as everybody else who ever went to the same school, Scott will be on a mission to stop the marriage. There have been some fun stills released for the movie, with this one clearly showing the dilemma that Scott's character is facing.
Well, what other movie can you feature here on a day like this? The Departed took home three of the most important awards at the Academy Awards: Best Director, Best Adapted Screenplay, and most important of all, Best Movie. So here is the first image we ever saw of this great movie.
When you look at this still, you know something is wrong. Something is going to happen and it's not going to be pleasant. Which, if you are David Fincher and your new movie is all about a notorious killer who couldn't be captured, is exactly the kind of mood you want to convey to your audience.
