Yeah, go ahead and read that headline again. And maybe another time to convince yourself that it really says what it says. Then check the date under this article and see that it's not April 1st. Director Ridley Scott, man behind such classics as Blade Runnerand Gladiator, is really attached to the upcoming Monopoly movie. Now I already read about Hasbro being very interested in a Monopoly movie a little while ago, but I didn't expect them to be this serious about their movie. And get this: Actresses being considered for lead roles in this movie are Scarlett Johansson and Kirsten Dunst.
Apparently, the movie is supposed to become a racy comedy thriller that has to convince young moviegoers that Monopoly is still a cool game to play. Johansson was quoted as saying that she thought the idea of a Monopoly movie was "funny, wacky, but interesting," while an executive for toy company Hasbro had more gushing things to say. “Hasbro already has cool games like Ouija, which could be a supernatural movie, but we think of Monopoly with Ridley Scott as director or producer, as a massive global hit. Everyone has played Monopoly in one version or another so, hopefully, they would be curious about how it translates to the screen." I'm guessing Scott is going to produce the movie, since he has a full slate of movies he is supposed to direct (including new Robin Hood movie Nottingham, Body of Lies and Blood Meridian).

Does anyone know the idea for the script?
