There is a rather extensive gallery for Brian De Palma's The Black Dahlia online, and these pics are very much worth clicking through for. They give a good impression of the style of the movie, showing off all the stars (with a few more pics of Scarlett Johansson than of the other people involved). This movie is looking good, and now they have the pics to prove it! One word of warning: One of the pics is rather gruesome, and certainly not for the squeamish...

First Nanny Diaries pics online

The Nanny Diaries is Scarlett Johansson's new project, based on a popular book in which a nanny tells all about the family where she is nanny-ing (is that even a word?). I'm guessing the book is popular for a good reason, and let's hope this movie will be successful in pleasing both fans of the book and people who didn't read it. Of course, by casting Johansson in the lead, they took a big step towards achieving both goals! I must say, by the way, that the picture on the left does give off a rather strong Mary Poppins feel, or is that just me? For more pictures, click the link.

Great Movie Stills Part III: Superman Returns

Everybody keeps talking about the Superman movie, and how supposedly it's not a big success. Well, I guess if you expect a movie to get a 'gigantic' box office gross, and it then goes on to just get a 'really big' box office gross, you might be a little bit dissapointed. I still think it's a great movie, and a lot of great stills were released to support the picture. Many of these images feature shots of action, but one of the most effective stills released for Superman Returns is this one, where we see Clark Kent standing in an elevator, trying to be as inconspicuous as possible while everybody is reading about his exploits. If you look at the image on the cover of the newspaper, you will even see that it looks the Superman pictured has glasses on, making him look even more like Clark Kent than he already did. Or at least, would do, if anybody was able to see the resemblance...

Monster House is an animated movie coming out later this month, and to be honest, the people behind the movie haven't really spoiled us with information about their movie. Yeah, sure, there are two great trailers and there's a website, but it took them long enough to finally send out a batch of pics for the movie. Well, at least they are here now, and if you click on the link you will be able to check out all 10 of the available pics.

Great Movie Stills Part II: Pirates of the Caribbean 2: Dead Man's Chest

When you have a big budget summer movie that everybody is already looking forward to (a recent poll in Holland for instance showing that no less than 80 percent of all moviegoers see this as the summer blockbuster they don't want to miss), you dont really have to go all out with your movie stills. If you want to give all those people whose bottoms are going to be occupying seats on opening day a bit of a treat beforehand, however, you don't have to go much further than this great shot of Johnny Depp and Orlando Bloom, in a setting that promises heaps of fun. There's Johnny's Jack Sparrow in a frankly ridiculous outfit, looking at Orlando's Will Turner, who seems to be in a spot of trouble, while they are moving through an area filled with skulls that don't bode well for our Will.
The picture also raises questions. Like: What will happen to will? Why has he been captured? Why isn't Jack sharing Will's fate? How is Jack planning to rescue Will. Is he even planning on rescuing him? To have these questions answered, you will just have to wait a few more days... Click the thumbnail to get a bigger view of the picture!

Great Movie Stills Part I: Stormbreaker

I only had to look at this still for a few seconds to realize that I just had to see this movie. The career of Mickey Rourke, for it is him, has known a lot of ups and downs, but I am sure he has never looked this cool in any movie before Stormbreaker. Sure, it is a bit camp, and it looks like the designers have had a field day with the design of this character, but you have to admit there is something both dangerous yet suave about the villain he will portray in the movie. Some stills can be more effective than a movie trailer, and this is one of them. While the trailer makes this movie look a bit like nothing more that Jr. James Bond, this still propells it to another level. Okay... Maybe a bit too much praise, but at the very least it's one of the coolest stills I've seen all year.
