Bi-Weekly Poll: Which of these huge flops did you enjoy most?

Nowadays, a movie has to be really bad (or really unlucky) for it to not make at least it's money back. Take for instance movies like The Island and Kingdom of Heaven. In America they only made back a marginal percentage of their budget, but outside the States they were smash hits. Besides that, the DVD-revenue of both these movies is giving them the success they rightfully deserve. There are, however, still plenty of movies that cost around 100 million dollars, and that is still waiting for that blessed day when the break even point is reached (which will probably never happen). In this week's poll I give you ten of the biggest flops in movie history and ask you: which of these huge flops did you enjoy most? You can find the voting box on the right side of this page.

Last week's poll: In one of the clearest victories since I started putting polls online, Jessica Alba is clearly your favourite for the role of Wonder Woman. She grabbed 35 percent of all votes. Second place went to the woman I voted for, Jennifer Connelly, with about half the amount of votes as Jessica Alba scored. Worryingly enough, George Clooney in drag was your third most popular choice, right ahead of Demi Moore and the threesome of Lynda Carter, Katie Holmes and Scarlett Johansson.

Two new reviews added

The stream of new reviews continues (okay, not really a stream anymore, but a trickle at the very least) with reviews of the movies Prime and The Replacements. We saw Prime in the sneak preview last week and had an unexpected blast with it, while The Replacements was on TV a few days later. I have already seen that movie several times (own it on DVD actually) but I could not stop myself from putting down the remote and watching it again.

INTERVIEW Jaime Andrews

All over the Internet, you can find interviews with famous actors, actresses and directors. What you mostly don't read about, however, are all those other people who work in movies and who are not famous. People who might deserve a step up into the spotlights as much as any movie star working today, and who keep working their butts off to make their dream come true. I thought it would be a good idea to interview some of these people and give them a chance to shine and let their names be known. First up:  a talented actress by the name of Jaime Andrews.

REVIEW: The Chronicles of Narnia (2005)

Although I cannot recall ever reading the Narnia-books, the basics behind the story are familiar. I'm pretty sure I heard about that mysterious wardrobe that leads to the wonderful land of Narnia someday, but maybe it's a good thing I didn't read the books as a kid. With my wild imagination I would probably have spent hours in every closet in our house, hoping that somehow I could also make my way to Narnia. And don't even doubt that I would do that, because I jumped on plenty of pictures after seeing Mary Poppins! I think every kid of that impressionable age will love this movie version of the book, which answers all the questions about what a land like Narnia would look like in real life.

Weekly Movie Poll: Who should play Wonder Woman?

The past week we have heard a few announcements regarding big roles. We have a new Bond Girl and some Bond Villains, as well as some more people on the Spider-Man 3 roster, but the big casting question remains hanging in the air: who is going to be Wonder Woman in the new, big Wonder Woman movie? Do you want the moviemakers to go for somebody a bit older, with a big reputation, or would you prefer to see a younger actress? Vote now in the poll in the right column of the page!

Last week's poll: Which movie had the biggest emotional impact on you?

Okay, so this poll actually ran for quite a few weeks, but this only meant we had an exciting race on our hands. In the end, victory went to Bambi. Probably not that surprising, since this is a movie that everybody remembers seeing when they were a little kid and crying their eyes out at 'that' scene. Bambi grabbed 21 percent, three more than second place winner The Shawshank Redemption. It's a long way down to number three, Lost in Translation, which scored 12 percent (and my personal vote), with Requiem for a Dream and Old Yeller tied in fourth. Even lower, we have A Beautiful Mind, Animal Farm, Philadelphia, Leaving Las Vegas and, in tenth and last place, All Quiet on the Western Front with 3 percent of the votes.

News Update: Scarlett in boob scandal, new Superman pics

Is the Scarlett Johansson boob scandal really news, or is just an excuse to put more pictures of her online? Speaking of pictures, there is an excellent selection of new Superman Returns pictures online, that is sure to make you even more interested in this movie. Besides that, there's some news on Narnia, Da Vinci Code and X-Men 4 & 5.

In what surely can be seen as a shocking development after months of hardly any new reviews, there are now 18 new reviews online at scribbleking.com. I've decided to write a review of every movie I see, both in the cinema and on TV. Most of these will probably be just a short opinion, but I already strayed from the idea of making them all a bit shorter than usual with my reviews of movies like Leon and A Love Song for Bobby Long. Now that 2005 is over and everybody has revealed their top ten list (or at least a preliminary version of it), the time has come to start looking forward to what we will be seeing in cinemas this year.
