Back in 1994, the Street Figher beat em ups were so popular, that the inevitable happened: A movie version was made. This being the early 90's, another inevitable thing happened: It sucked. Still, fans of the series went to see it in droves, although the droves weren't big enough for a sequel to be considered. Nowadays, there are still Street Fighter games being made, and the series still has it's fans, but you wouldn't expect Hollywood to be interested in the series anymore. Especially now that the movie version of Dead or Alive has more or less disappeared without a trace, you would expect the money men to have lost their interest in the beat-em-up genre. But what do we read today? Jessica Biel has been tapped to play the role of Chun Li in a new Street Fighter movie. 20th Century Fox and the company behind the games, Capcom, want to get a new Street Fighter movie out in time for the 20th anniversary of the series, and it's reported that they have already asked both Keira Knightley and Jessica Alba for the role, but both have declined. Not much is known about the storyline, but it is said to focus on Chun Li, probably the most popular female character from the series, who has been part of the franchise since the very first game. It will be interesting to see if Biel is going to say yes, I'm guessing fans from all over the world are keeping their fingers crossed.
