Carice van Houten to star with Tom Cruise in Bryan Singer's Valkyrie

Dutch actress Carice van Houten, who we last saw stealing Paul Verhoeven's Black Book, has signed on to play the biggest role of her career, opposite Tom Cruise in Bryan Singer's Valkyrie. The movie tells the story of a group of German generals who devise a plot to kill Hitler, and also stars Kenneth Branagh, Patrick Wilson, Stephen Fry and Tom Wilkinson. This is already the third English language picture Van Houten has signed on for, after two smaller movies Smoke and Ochre and Dorothy Mills. Shooting on Valkyrie will start in July, in Berlin.

Carice van Houten to star in new bio-pic Smoke and Ochre

Carice van Houten, the Dutch actress who made name for herself with her brilliant acting in Paul Verhoeven's Black Book, has signed on for her second movie in English, Smoke and Ochre. This pic will be telling the life of South African painter Ingrid Jonker, who was part of a group of artists who heavily resisted the censoring done by the ruling National Party. It's a tragic story, then again, aren't most bio-pics, and Carice can use this role to once again show her depth. Bond Girl rumors still going strong

From the moment it was announced there would be a new Bond movie, the speculation on who will be the new Bond girl has been going strong. To be honest, I haven't really been following the names, since at this stage it's mostly just wishful thinking anyway, so I was a bit surprised to see that one of the most popular actresses from my own country is one of the people reportedly in the running for the role. The actress in question is Carice van Houten, and I think she would be perfect for the part. I've seen her in many different roles throughout the years, and I think her versatility would be a great asset for the Bond movies. Plus, she's gorgeous, which is always a plus when it comes to casting this role. Besides, the previous Dutch actress with a big role in a Bond movie was Famke Janssen, whose Xenia Onnatop led to many great roles for her. Somebody else being considered at the moment is British singer Amy Winehouse, but then again you could probably add the name of every young actress who hasn't been in a Bond movie yet to that list anyway.
