Frank Miller says: Sin City 2 and 3 are in the works

110612 Frank Miller has told MTV that not only is Sin City 2 still on, there are even some well advanced plans to also make Sin City 3. Said Miller: "“There was just some problems above us that I don’t understand…that I don’t really want to understand." It's rumored that Sin City 3 will concentrate on the Sin City story Hell and Back, which is about a hallucinating artist called Wallace. And according to the rumors, Wallace will be played by... Johnny Depp! Miller didn't want to go into this casting rumore, but according to MTV he was smiling broadly when he said that.

Sin City still on, says Frank Miller

Earlier this week I reported that Michael Madsen had said that Sin City 2 would probably not be happening anymore. Apparently, Frank Miller has been following the news and doesn't agree with the actor's ranting. "Sin City 2 is still likely to happen," Miller said, "just not right away. The script is written and Robert [Rodriguez] and I are raring to go, but it looks like I'm going to be doing The Spirit first and Robert's going to be doing Barbarella first." While I am sure many people look forward to both Barbarella and The Spirit, I'm also sure most of those people would have preferred an earlier release for Sin City 2. Well, at least it's still on (not that there was too much dount about that, to be honest).

Sin City 2 in danger?

If we have to believe Michael Madsen, Sin City fans could be in for a shock. “They haven't shot it yet. I don't know if they ever will," the actor who had a small role in the first movie told Premiere. The reason? The failure of Grindhouse. "I think the Grindhouse thing didn't kind of work out." Madsen continued. To be honest, I don't see how Grindhouse failing financially has anything to do with making a sequel to a highly successful movie, but Madsen is the man on the inside. Still, if they do make it, Madsen most definitely wants to be a part of it: “I haven't seen the script for Sin City 2. I don't know if they are gonna make it. I hope they do. And if and when they do, I will be in it.”

Antonio Banderas wants to be in Sin City 2

Antonio Banderas has expressed his frustration over still not being asked by director Robert Rodriguez to star in his upcoming movie Sin City 2. "I would follow Rodriguez into hell if he asked me to do it," Banderas told Contact Music.com. "But the way this man works, he will literally call me the night before and say, 'Let's do this movie.' And I will do it. I've done six movies with him, and that is the way he works." I'm not really that much into the whole Sin City thing that I know that there is a part for Banderas, having only read the books that were already turned into the first movie, but I'm sure he would make a great addition to the cast. Maybe he can persuade Salma Hayek to join him?

Rachel Weisz to replace Angelina Jolie in Sin City 2?

Rumor has it that Angelina Jolie is dropping out of Sin City 2, to be replaced by Rachel Weisz. According to CinemaBlend, talks between Jolie and the producers of the movie fizzled, and now Rodriguez is talking to Weisz. While many Jolie-fanboys may be up in arms, I think it's a very interesting choice that can only help the movie (no offense to Jolie, of course).

In six months, Sin City 2 is starting production

Robert Rodriguez dropped an interesting nugget of information for all the people waiting for the second Sin City movie. In an interview with American newspaper LA Daily News, Rodriguez revealed that "We're going to start that probably in about six months." He didn't actually say anything else about the movie, but hey, this is all we wanted to know right now anyway.

Sin City performance the sexiest of the year

Not very surprisingly, Jessica Alba won the award for Sexiest Performance at this year's MTV Awards. She took home the award for her performance in Sin City, which makes perfect sense to me :)

Sin City TV-series in the making?

We don't even have Sin City 2 yet, and already there is talk of a television series based on the comic books. This raises a lot of questions, the biggest one being: will Robert Rodriguez and (most importantly) Frank Miller be involved in any way? I cannot imagine a Sin City that is written by somebody else, and I'm also a bit worried that this might mean we will get rushed, watered down stories with other actors subbing for their big screen counterparts. Well, you never know of course, it might be cool, but I won't be holding my breath if you don't mind.

What will Sin City 2 be about?

We already knew that the second Sin City movie will feature some of the other stories from Frank Miller's books, but the man has also confirmed that he is working on some new stories. While these stories are primarily intended to be made into new comic books, at least one of these stories will also make it to the big screen. In this storyline, according to Wikipedia, 'skinny little' Nancy Callahan will go out on a killing spree, murdering the remaining members of the Roarke family that was more or less responsible for Hartigan's death in the first movie. More on this as it develops...

Scribble King reviews Sin City

Do you know that excited feeling you get when you are watching the beginning of a movie, and you just know that everything that follows will be great? It's a feeling that does not happen very often, so whenever a movie is able to achieve it, you have to cherish it and enjoy it to the fullest. It's the kind of feeling you would like to grab and put in a bottle, so that you can open the bottle whenever you want and experience a little bit more of it. Now for a movie to achieve this feeling, it does not even have to be perfect, like Sin City (Score: * * * *) isn't perfect. But when you are sitting on the edge of your seat mumbling to yourself "This is good, this is really good", you just know that you have struck movie gold.
