Thanks to the Steadicam, many movies have been blessed with some fantastic shots. Brian DePalma swears by the Steadicam (check out the opening scene of Snake Eyes, for instance), and the making of Russian movie Russian Ark (which consisted of one long, ninety minute shot) was only possible thanks to the Steadicam. Dan Kneece, a world renowned Steadicam operator, is President of the Steadicam Guild, an organisation dedicated to the promotion and education of the art and craft of the Steadicam. In other words, the perfect person to ask what a Steadicam actually is.

Ashley Kravitz has another one of those movie jobs where you might wonder what it is she does, but without whom movies just wouldn't be what the directors envision when they start on a new production. It's Kravitz' job to make sure that all the rights are cleared for all the products you see in a movie. There are many ways to break into the movie industry, and there are many more jobs than just those of Actor, Director, or Screenwriter. Take the job of 'runner' for instance. A runner is somebody who does all sorts of jobs on a movie production that you probably wouldn't consider when you are watching the latest blockbuster at your local cineplex, but which are in their own way vital to a movie's production. Being a runner is seen as a job that can lead to bigger movie-jobs, and this is exactly what Ryan Drawbridge-Harding is experiencing. He started as a runner on movies, TV programmes and commercials, and now he is finishing off his first movie as a third assistant director. Ryan is taking steps towards a long career in movies, which he told me all about in an interview I had with him.

For today's interview, we dissapear behind the camera, as Michelle Pizanis tells us all about her work in the camera crew. She worked for many years as a still photographer, but lost interest in still images and decided to move on to moving images. Once again we delve into the world of movie jobs that you may never have heard of before, but which are instrumental for the success of a movie. Today, I have an interview for you with Sean Oliver, an actor/voice actor whose voice you will have heard in many different movies, without you knowing it was his voice that you heard, and not the voice of the person you were seeing on the screen. He is part of something called the ADR-group on a movie, with ADR meaning Additional Dialogue Recording. Whenever you see a party scene in a movie, you're not hearing the voices of the actors you see, but those of the voice actors 'dubbing' dialogue over the scene afterwards. And this is just one of the many instances in which voice actors are used. Oliver is one of the hardest working men in the voice over business, with time left over to do 'regular' acting, directing, painting, raising his 18 months old daughter and giving very insightful and funny answers to my questions.
