To write a new short story! Or actually, I have had that urge for a long time already, since it's been way too long since I wrote some fiction. The story in question is something I had actually wanted to turn into a book someday, until the movie My Super Ex Girlfriend came along to spoil things (my wife is now probably rolling her eyes at the prospect of having to read another one of my silly superhero stories). Even though my idea was radically different in many ways (for one, the girlfriend in my story is actually a supervillain, and there is some real love going on) I still put away the idea, planning to never do anything with it anymore. But when I recently ran across it in one of my books of ideas, I thought the idea was too good to just leave it.
So here it is, all 2.827 words of it. It's called I'm In Love With A Supervillainess (is that even a word?), and it's the first in what I hope will be a long line of short stories that I hope to write in the coming months. I was actually planning for a second to write a new short story every day, and get all my old story ideas out of my system, but it might be a better idea to just see where this goes without making any promises I cannot keep.
Click the link to (hopefully) be entertained!

We've all had our moments when we were in the cinema, and the movie just ended, and we felt like we could come up with much better ideas than what we had just seen. For many years, I've had dozens and dozens of ideas, which I used to write down in a book, so that later on, I could turn them into screenplays that would then be made in successful blockbusters. Well, that never really happened, but I still have all those ideas and though: why not turn them into short stories? Short stories that would give you a glimpse into what I would consider to be a movie I would like to see? From today, I am going to be trying to give you a new short story every weekend, in many different genres and styles, but always short and snappy so you can read them when you have a few minutes to spare. And when you do, I am very interested to read what you think of them! For the first one, I have rewritten a short story that was already hidden away on the site, but which I re-read and thought deserved more attention. It's a cross between your favorite doctor's series on TV and superhero movies like Superman. Now if that isn't a guarantee for box office success, I don't know what is!

This short story took me a long time to write. It's almost not even a short story either. It's all about cloning, and the effects it can have on everyday life. I don't really want to say much more, since there are some twists and turns happening, but I think it ended up as a pretty cool story...

The second story for today is something I started writing in 2003, and which I finished in 2004. No, it did not take that long to write, but after finishing the first draft I wanted to keep it on my laptop so I could think about it a little more before I started the second draft. So okay, it took a whole year for me to get to the second draft, but when I finally published it online it was also met with a lot of positive feedback. This story is a little bit like thos high concept comedies that swamped theaters in the 80's and 90's. It's about a gangster boss, a widower, whose daughter sets him up on a blind date because she thinks her daddy needs some female influences in his life. I had intended it to have some harder edges, but in the end it's just the type of all ages comedy you can find in family movies all over the world...

From now on, the most important part of this blog will be the stories I write every once in a while. Like several millions of others out there (and probably several millions more), I aspire to one day become a famous writer, a novelist who writes books that line bookshelves in shops (and homes) all over the world. Save the Princess is an earlier story I wrote, but which I'm still very fond. It was the first story I ever published online, and I even got a handful of positive comments for it! It's all about a guy who spends his last dime trying to complete an arcade game down at the local arcade, only to run out of money before he is able to finish. That is, until help arrives from an unexpected source...
