There was a time, a long time ago, when the name Chevy Chase on a movie poster was an almost instant guarantee for full cinemas. At this time, Chase was a hilarious comedian, whose sharp wit had audiences rolling in the aisles. Nowadays, the name of Chevy Chase in the credits is a guarantee that you are watching some horrible B-movie and that you don't have to worry that your funny bone will be tickled too hard.

You may have heard the news that Steven Seagal isn't too happy with his recent spate of movies. And to be honest, most of his recent pics were all pretty crappy. Let's have a look at his last five movies, and see what the IMDB-scores for these movies were: Attack Force: 2.7; Shadow Man: 4.3; Mercenary For Justice: 4.2; Black Dawn: 3.7; Today You Die: 3.9. No, that doesn't really say: "I'm doing the best I can to make the best movies possible for my fans." Will all this garbage coming out, you would almost forget that the man has made a lot of cool pictures, back in the days when he was still a major box office draw. Let's look back and see if we can restore some glory to the man's image.

Natalie Portman is one of those actresses who are fun to watch in any movie they do, whether the movie itself is good or not. She's only 26 years old, but already has a body of work that is the envy of many of her peers. She's been in huge blockbuster movies (Star Wars episodes 1-3), critically acclaimed fan favorites (Garden State) and brilliant classics (Leon), and she shows no signs of winding down any time soon. As a matter of fact, she has three movies in the pipeline, with rumors floating around that she might be starring in the fourth Indiana Jones movie.

At this moment, there aren't that many actresses more popular than Scarlett Johansson. She has made a name for herself with the combination of plenty of acting skills, mostly shown in interesting, small movies like Lost in Translation and Ghost World, and looks. Not only is Scarlett beautiful in a non-Hollywood way, she also possesses a body that has fanboys everywhere going crazy, search terms like 'Scarlett Johansson Boobs' clogging up the internet all over the world. For the discerning Scarlett-scholar and people who have never heard of her but want to know more, I'll try to dig up her five most interesting movies so far.

During the weekend, we saw the four hour director's cut version of Once upon a time in America. A great movie, to be sure, even when it's 2.30 AM and you can hardly keep your eyes open anymore, and a movie that is helped greatly by the acting of the kids portraying the main characters during their younger days. A quick run on the IMDB shows that most of these kids have more or less vanished from the big screen, and there is really only one that has the big career that her role in this movie foreshadows: Jennifer Connelly.

It will be hard to miss Steve Martin this weekend, since his new comedy The Pink Panther is being hyped through the roof. A good moment to look back at Martin's career, and looking at his filmopgraphy at IMDB made me realize that the man has been in a lot of really bad and (even worse) really average movies. Movies like Housesitter, Father of the Bride 2, Bringing Down the House, Sgt. Bilko and Mixed Nuts can all be buried in a deep pit somewhere in the desert (maybe somewhere close to those millions of copies of Atari's ET videogame), and nobody would miss them. Since the reviews of The Pink Panther are also rather negative, it would almost make you forget he actually used to make some really good movies. Time to dig out five of those up, then.
