When screenwriter David Marconi wrote his script for Enemy of the State 2, he probably didn't expect that it would take this long for it to get to the screen, or that it would be turned into a new Die Hard movie instead. Still, this is what happened, as Marconi wrote his WW3.com a little before September 11th 2001, after which it was initially shelved. Later on, it was taken by writer Mark Bomback to be adapted into Live Free or Die Hard, which is actually not the first time a movie for a different franchise was changed into a Die Hard movie. The original Die Hard was originally Commandos 2, while Die Hard With a Vengeance was supposed to have been a Lethal Weapon movie.
