Says director Joe Wright: “I wanted to cast Keira as a woman, a sexual character. She’s only ever played girls before. There is a key scene with James McAvoy where she dives into a deep fountain to retrieve a broken vase. Keira emerges from the water and stands on the fountain’s edge. It was her idea to stand there for quite so long - but I quite liked it.” He then adds that there was actually more nudity for Keira, but that had to be cut out. “There was another shot of her from behind but we left it out as it seemed a bit too rude." Keira Knightley to play Princess Diana in new biopic?

Keira Knightley is supposedly the frontrunner for the leading role in a new movie based on the life of the British Princess Diana. At the Cannes film festival there was a heavy bidding war going on for the rights to the book Diana and the Papparazzi, which movie producers hope will turn into a very successful movie. Film producer Quentin Reynolds is one of the people bidding on the book, and he had this to say to WENN about the movie, and Knightley's role in it. "Already the word in Hollywood is 'get Knightley'. It's a story that has everything: pathos, tragedy, comedy, adventure...and Princess Diana. For every pound The Queen makes, a film about Diana will make ten."

Keira Knightley glad to be done with Pirates

Keira Knightley has said in an interview with Empire that she is glad she can move on from the Pirates movies. "This is such a relief. Not that I don't enjoy all that Pirates stuff, but it's not about my character - it's about Johnny (Depp)'s character. It's not focusing on emotional turmoil. It's been great just to get my brain engaged." If you want to see Keira's brain engaged, then you'll have to wait a bit for Atonement, the movie she is filming right now with James McAvoy.

"The smooches are always so awkward, especially because Keira and I have never been in that kind of situation together. She's, like, three and I'm a thousand!", Depp said. "We've known each other for a few years and suddenly it was, 'Are you ready for this?' And you just do it. It becomes more like a stunt in a way. She was a great sport about it." Depp didn't mention the fact that it was actually Knightley who insisted with the movie's producers and director on having the kiss in the first place...

"I would love to have Monica Bellucci's figure, but I will never manage that because I do not have such build. I am what I am." But before you think this means she will have surgery, think again. She prefers exercising to keep fit. "Yes, I love being fit, but only so that I am in shape and can run around doing different things. Perhaps the media would accept me more if people were not seen as things."

Co-stars Johnny Depp and Orlando Bloom are constantly mocking the young actress, for a very interesting reason. “Every time I do a take, they say, ‘Oh, is that an Oscar-nominated take?” I'm sure Knightley doesn't really mind, since she is highly favored to go home with the statue come sunday.
