Kate Beckinsale has a new thriller coming out, in which she plays a mother who neglects her kid, which has some serious repercussions for her. Now that it's more or less official that the Barbarella movie is being made after all, we wil no doubt be hearing the first rumors about who is going to star in the role made so famous by Jane Fonda pretty soon. Still, doing a little bit of searching on the web led me to some news articles about Barbarella, pre-Rodriguez, where studio executives already seem to know who is going to fill the role. "Jane Fonda made the ‘Barbarella’ role very much her own all those years ago and she is bound to be a tough act to follow. But the feeling is that Kate has just the right combination of beauty, humour..." I'm saying: great choice! But there is also a rumor that Lindsay Lohan is up for the role, plus some people are saying that Rodriguez is going to bring in one of the actresses he has worked with before (Salma Hayek? Carla Gugino?). Oh well, ruminating on this is a good way to keep our minds off that other important question: Who is going to be Wonder Woman?
Kate Beckinsale was recently overheard saying that the new Bruce Willis movie Live Free or Die Hard is ruining her sex life. This, because Kate's husband Len Wiseman is directing the movie, and apparently it's hard work for Len. "I've felt so lonely because Len has been a virtual stranger for several months now. He basically only comes home to sleep." She does have a surprise in store for her husband though. "I've told him he's going to have to make it up to me. I won't let him out of the bed for a month!"

There are some nice ones of her there, as well as one brilliant one of Christopher Walken and the remote that gets this whole movie rolling. Kate will play the wife of a Russian spy in the upcoming thriller/drama April 23rd. As she told MTV, the movie is "about a Russian spy who comes into America and has to be completely undercover. Underworld 1 and 2 director Len Wiseman had some things to say about the third Underworld movie, which is supposed to be a prequel, and which is now in pre-production. According to Wiseman, it will be "the origin story and we find out things we didn’t know about Lucian; he’ll have a much bigger part in it." Wiseman was not able to shed much more light on the big question for this movie: Will Kate be in it or not? ""It will be in the time period before, but it will overlap into the creation of her as well. We’re in the process of seeing how far we go with that." Earlier on, Beckinsale has mentioned that she is more or less sick and tired of vampire movies, so it remains to be seen if she will be back for the third one.
Well well well... Here we have a movie summer with more than one movie that has a really funny trailer! And I am not just talking a funny trailer, but a trailer that actually makes you laugh out loud when you see it in theaters. It's the trailer for Click, the new Adam Sandler comedies that features a major starring part for Kate, and it actually looks like a lot of fun. Sandler plays a guy who happens on a remote control that he can use to control everything in his life with. He can fast forward through discussions with his wife, go to slowmotion when a pretty girl runs by, and that's only the beginning. Things go wrong however, when the remote gets a life of it's own. Sounds like a Groundhog Day type comedy, let's hope it at least comes close to the level of that classic comedy. And oh yeah... Click!
Kate Beckinsale and her tight leather pants grabbed the weekend's box office in a tight hold. It earned $27.6, which is an improvement of almost 6 million over the opening weekend of the original movie. Like for the original, reviews haven't been that positive, but that didn't stop it from going on to earn a healthy box office gross. Looks like the director will get his dream of turning Underworld into a trilogy.
