Jim Broadbent to be Indy IV's new Brody?

In Raiders of the Lost Ark and Indiana Jones and The Last Crusade, Marcus Brody is one of the most likeable characters. He's Indy's old friend, and he gave the proceedings an extra humorous touch. Sadly, the actor portraying the role, Denholm Elliott, died in 1992, but it seems like his character will make a comeback in the fourth Indy movie, courtesy of Jim Broadbent. The British actor, known from movies like Moulin Rouge and Hot Fuzz, confirmed to Aint It Cool News that he will be in the movie, and though it's not entirely official yet, this is still good news. Broadbent is a great actor, who always adds a bit of extra flair to any production he is in, and he would be a great addition to the cast of Indiana Jones and the City of the Gods.

The new Indiana Jones movie has a working title, and its'...

...not that much of a surprise actually, since it's a title that was already buzzing around some time ago. Anyway, the working title (which is only a working title and might still change when they feel they have a better idea) is Indiana Jones and the City of the Gods. So there.

Sean Connery out of Indiana Jones 4

It's official: Sean Connery will not be playing the part of Indiana Jones' father in the fourth Indiana Jones movie. Connery released a statement, which also makes it clear it's unlikely he will do any acting at all anymore. "I thought long and hard about it and if anything could have pulled me out of retirement it would have been an Indiana Jones film. I love working with Steven and George, and it goes without saying that it is an honor to have Harrison as my son. But in the end, retirement is just too damned much fun." This is sad news indeed, since the witty banter between Ford and Connery was one of the highlights of Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. It seems that the father role will stay in the picture though, as John Hurt has been hired to replace Connery.

Indiana Jones looking for 40 new cars

The producers of Indiana Jones 4 aren't just looking for extras, they also need cars. Classic cars. 40 of them. This Saturday there was a casting call, where the owners of classic cars that fit with the timeperiod were invited to have their car cast in the movie. While there were plenty of people who responded enthusiastically, there were plenty of other classic car owners living in the area who were more wary, no doubt afraid that their classic vehicle would be used in some car chase, ending up being wrecked. “The cars will just sit, parked, for 12 hours”, was the reply of a production crew member when the concerns were voiced. “Your car might roll across an intersection three blocks from the action. There’s no risk.” In case you are wondering which cars are going to be used in the chases? “Those cars will just be classic bodies combined with 1980s Chevy Caprice Chassis. The old cars’ engines just aren’t reliable enough to run all day.”

Wanna be an extra in the new Indiana Jones? Here's your chance!

According to Spielbergfilms.com, fans of the Indiana Jones movies will have their chance to be an extra in the upcoming Indiana Jones 4. On Monday June 11 and Tuesday June 12, the production will hold an open casting call at the Omni Hotel at Yale, for a scene that will be shot in New Haven. In the scene, Indy will tear across the campus with a motorcycle, so there will probably be a lot of running away before he drives over you. Shooting for this scene will take place somewhere between June 28 and July 7.

Filming on Indy 4 almost starting

While George Lucas was attending the Formula 1 Grand Prix in Monaco, he dropped a nugget of information to put a little bit of cheer into the hearts of all Indiana Jones fans: Shooting on the movie is going to start next week! Expect a ton of blurry photo's from the set to pop up on websites everywhere soon.

A Russian villain to be more precise, though not much more is known about her intentions. With all the Indiana Jones news flying around on the net, I'm wondering if the whole movie hasn't been spoiled already before shooting even starts...

Shia LaBeouf getting ready for Indy IV

Starpulse had an interview with Shia LaBeouf, in which he told them all about how he is working out for the new Indiana Jones movie, in which he stars as Indy's son. "Steven [Spielberg] said midway through the working out thing, 'I don't want you to get big. Just be ready for what we're about to do and show me some of the skills so I know you're ready,'" LaBeouf said. "So I've never been in better shape in my life and I've never been more athletic. I train every day. Unfortunately, surfing work-outs are out of the question - I used to surf a lot but you can't do it because of insurance reasons, in case you get hurt."

More revelations on Shia LaBeouf's Indiana Jones character

It has been revealed, not officially but from a respected source, that Shia LaBeouf will play the son of Indiana Jones in the new Indy movie. And not only that, Karen Allen (Indy's love interest in the first Indy movie) will be the mother of Shia's character, meaning that Indy and Karen's Marion Ravenwood did indeed get very close in Raiders of the Lost Ark...
