It's great to be a fan of Moka Only. Not only does the man make great music, he also does so at a rate that is eye-popping. Throughout the last year, Moka dropped no less than 8 albums and EP's, which is more output than most rapgroups manage in their entire career. And the thing with Moka Only is: Almost everything he does is great. Cue Airport, an album with a pretty horrible cover, which nonetheless delivers some classic Moka Only moments. If you have heard another album by this man, you know what to expect. Bumping beats with the trademark types of samples and instruments he uses, and like every album, Airport has a few standout cuts that you won't want to take out of a long repeat cycle. I'd even go so far as to say that Milk is the best song I have heard all year. It may seem like a whimsical song, with that high pitched voice in the chorus, but everything about this song clicks with me. The fact that it's only two minutes long means that my finger automatically searches for the repeat button, whenever I hear the final chords, and unlike other songs that I played to death this year, I still cannot get enough of it.
When I listen to this album, I keep wondering to myself: How on earth does Moka Only do it? While some artists struggle to deliver an album every two years, and struggle even harder to maintain their quality, Moka seems to have no problem coming out with something new every two months. And it's not like these albums are stuffed with filler either. Airport is 17 tracks deep, with not a dud in sight. From the moment the opening track drops to the final sounds of the smooth Do Something, Moka keeps up the pace. And this ease with which he seems to craft perfect beats also transcends into his lyrics. He is as relaxed on the mic as if he would be standing in a room talking to you. But don't sleep on the lyrical content of his albums. "This is for the founders of the f---ing music/And the listeners who get it and approve it/But mostly for me because I don't give two shits. If not giving two shits means crafting classic album after classic album in his own style, then by all means, Moka, never give shits.
